Managed by the York Housing Authority, Public Housing units come in various forms, including multi-family developments, high-rise apartment buildings, and mid-rise structures, often clustered in vibrant communities. Additionally, some units are strategically located throughout the county in scattered sites, featuring homes and apartments that have been thoughtfully remodeled by the authority.
Residents of Public Housing benefit from a rent structure that caps their payments at no more than 30% of their adjusted gross income, ensuring affordability for essential utilities and living expenses. The York Housing Authority oversees approximately 1,066 rental housing units across York City and York County, carefully selecting residents through a thorough application process. This process includes reaching the top of the waiting list and meeting various eligibility criteria, such as income qualifications, housekeeping standards, rental history, criminal background checks, and financial responsibility.

YHA has family housing units are located in the following areas: Parkway Homes, Wellington Homes, Fielding Way, Ridgefield Court, Wrightsville, West Manchester Township, Glen Rock, Windsor, Fairmont Village, Hanover, Yoe, Red Lion and Emigsville.
YHA manages approximately elderly rental housing units in York City and York County. YHA selects its residents after they have completed the application process, have come to the top of the waiting list and satisfied various eligibility criteria. These criteria include: income eligibility, housekeeping, rental history, criminal history, and financial responsibility.
